Michael Canzoniero (videographer)

A professional cameraman and editor, Michael has been filming weddings since he was an award-winning student at the prestigious New York University Graduate Film Program (class of ’98). His work has played Sundance, Tribeca, SXSW, Hamptons and the Centerpiece of the New York Film Festival at Lincoln Center. Interestingly enough, his most recent film takes a comical look at the wedding videography business itself. Entitled “The Wedding Bros.”, the comedic feature stars Tony Winner Dan Fogler (Balls of Fury) and is being distributed by Universal Home Video later this year.
Widely considered by New York wedding planners to be one of the top event videographers in the city, Michael utilizes state of the art equipment and brings a professional filmmaker’s eye to every event he shoots. With the goal of being as unobtrusive as possible, utilizing long lens cinematography and minimal lighting, he’s able to capture the most natural, authentic moments of the day.
Everyone has seen the photo booth at weddings. We've taken that concept to a whole new level: think of it as a photo booth Vanity Fair-style. We'll set up a compact photo studio, complete with high fashion studio lighting, black backdrop and award winning photojournalist and portrait photographer Jake Price behind the camera. Guest portraits are projected in a slideshow that is constantly updated with new photos. The Studio can be booked a la carte for weddings or special events.
The philosophy behind The Studio:
"I've been inspired by photographers such as Iriving Penn who captured form and grace so discreetly while also holding onto a humanity and sense of ease in his subjects. He was of a different time, when elegant fashion was more a part of our culture. One of the places where this kind of elegance survives is at weddings. My philosophy is that people put a lot of refined effort into looking remarkable. When I succeed, my photography preserves that urbanity while still not loosing track of the intimate and light moments that occur during the event. The trick is to bring it all into my little 'studio' and within a couple of minutes distill it into a lasting photograph."

After all, we spend more time with you on your wedding day than your fiance! NYC is the perfect backdrop—we'll help you choose a location that suits your style as a couple. Shoots typically last an hour, and we promise we won't make you get down on one knee and re-enact the proposal.
Maternity, Baby and Family Portraits
First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes....the baby portrait! As my couples start their families, they call on me to document the steps along the way. It's so amazing to watch them grow as a couple: from newly engaged, to saying "I do", to "Billy smile for Kelly!". The shoots are always lively, with a focus on play and spontaneity instead of matching turtlenecks and cheesy smiles. On-location shoots can take place in the home, at a park or a favorite neighborhood playground.
We can document any special event or party, be it Bar/bat-mitzvahs or Charity Fundraisers. As with our wedding photography, we always go beyond the "grip and grin" photo to capture the true story and energy of any event. We'll custom build a package that is right for the event.
